Overview
Prime Agent is a Rust-based terminal agent for coding and long-running research work. The model acts through a persistent Python REPL, where subagents are spawned with `rlm.spawn(...)`, and `/refine` stores small, reviewable updates to prompts, memories and skills. Sessions run under a background daemon, so they survive terminal disconnects and can be reattached.
Who it is for: Developers and researchers running long coding or eval tasks in a terminal
Strengths
- Daemon-backed sessions keep running after terminal detach; reattach with `prime-agent attach`
- Built-in subagents via `rlm.spawn(...)` for parallel or background work
- `/refine` keeps history and snapshots with rollback, and never rewrites the base system prompt
- Long-run controls: `/goal`, heartbeats, schedules, and `/autonomous` with turn, token and time budgets
Weaknesses
- Not a security sandbox: runs model-generated Python and commands with your user permissions
- License detected as NOASSERTION, while the README states MIT
- Installed via curl-pipe-to-shell script; no Docker or compose setup
- Supported model providers are not listed; README only mentions `/login`
What it needs
- Needs subscription or API-key model provider
