Overview
Omnigent is a Python CLI and server that wraps coding-agent harnesses (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, Hermes, Pi, plus YAML-defined custom agents) behind one session model. Sessions can mix agents, be shared with teammates, and be opened from terminal, a web UI on port 6767, a phone, or a macOS desktop app. It adds approval and spend policies and can run sessions in cloud sandboxes such as Modal, E2B, Daytona or Kubernetes. The project is marked alpha.
Who it is for: Engineers running several coding agents who need shared sessions and policies
Strengths
- Mixes several agent harnesses in one session, e.g. one agent reviewing another's diff
- Policies for approval prompts, spend caps and tool limits at server, agent or chat scope
- Supports API keys, Claude/ChatGPT subscriptions and OpenAI/Anthropic-compatible gateways like Ollama
- Many sandbox backends: Modal, Daytona, E2B, Kubernetes, Databricks and others via extras
Weaknesses
- Marked alpha status in the README
- Native terminal wrappers need tmux; Linux also requires bubblewrap
- Windows runs degraded: no terminal wrappers and no filesystem or network sandboxing
- Needs Python 3.12+, Node 22+, uv and git, so the install footprint is large
What it needs
- no GPU
- Docker + Compose
- Needs Python 3.12+, uv, git, Node.js 22+, pnpm, tmux, bubblewrap (Linux)
- Models: Anthropic API, OpenAI API, Claude subscription, ChatGPT subscription, OpenRouter
- port 6767
