Overview
CodePilot is an Electron and Next.js desktop app that runs chat and coding sessions against 17+ providers, including Anthropic, OpenRouter, Bedrock, Vertex, Ollama and custom OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible endpoints. It adds MCP server management, skills, session rewind, a git panel, and a remote bridge for Telegram, Feishu, Discord, QQ and WeChat. File editing and shell commands need the Claude Code CLI installed.

Strengths
- Switch among 17+ providers and models mid-conversation, including Ollama and custom endpoints
- Manages MCP servers (stdio/sse/http) with runtime status, plus skills and a skills.sh marketplace
- Session pause, resume and rewind to checkpoint, split-screen sessions, token and cost charts
- Local SQLite storage; builds for macOS, Windows and Linux, with in-app updates on macOS and Windows
Weaknesses
- BSL-1.1 license: commercial use needs a separate license; converts to Apache 2.0 in 2029
- File editing, terminal and git actions require the separate Claude Code CLI
- Windows builds are unsigned and trigger SmartScreen; Linux updates are manual
- Interface is English and Chinese only
