Overview
Pure Lua replacement for github/copilot.vim that runs the Copilot Language Server inside Neovim. It provides inline ghost-text suggestions, a split-window suggestion panel, and experimental next edit suggestions via copilot-lsp. The native server binary is downloaded and SHA-256 verified on first use, with a Node.js server as an alternative.
Who it is for: Neovim users with a GitHub Copilot subscription
Strengths
- Inline suggestions, panel and experimental next edit suggestions in one plugin
- Native server download is version-pinned, SHA-256 verified and cached
- Can hide ghost text while nvim-cmp or blink.cmp menus are open
- Per-filetype and per-buffer attach control via filetypes and should_attach
Weaknesses
- Requires a GitHub Copilot account; sign-in via :Copilot auth
- Requires Neovim 0.11.0 or higher
- Native binary covers glibc Linux, macOS and Windows; musl needs Node.js 22+
- Next edit suggestions are experimental and need the separate copilot-lsp plugin
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs Neovim 0.11.0+, GitHub Copilot account, Node.js 22+ (only for nodejs server type), copilot-lsp (optional, for NES), curl, wget or PowerShell (first install)
- Models: GitHub Copilot
