Overview
MobileBuildMCP is a TypeScript MCP server and CLI that lets coding agents drive xcodebuild for iOS and macOS projects. It builds for simulators, prepares and runs portable test products, and supports device tools. The CLI uses a per-workspace daemon for stateful work such as log capture and debugging, and optional agent skills install with `mobilebuildmcp init`.
Who it is for: iOS and macOS developers using coding agents like Cursor or Claude Code
Strengths
- One package provides both an MCP server and a direct terminal CLI
- Installs via Homebrew or npm; npx runs the MCP server without a global install
- Can build test products separately, then run them on a named simulator
- Optional MCP and CLI skills prime agents on tool usage
Weaknesses
- macOS only; requires macOS 14.5+ and Xcode 16.x or later
- Device tools need code signing already configured in Xcode
- Sends runtime error telemetry to Sentry unless you opt out
- Docs live in a separate repo, not in this README
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs macOS 14.5+, Xcode 16.x+, Node.js 18+ (not needed with Homebrew)
