Overview
An Agent Skills package for Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Codex and similar agents. It writes .drawio XML from natural language, Mermaid, images, Terraform, Kubernetes, SQL DDL, OpenAPI and code import graphs, then exports through the draw.io desktop CLI and checks the rendered PNG. A diagramctl CLI adds sync that keeps manual layout, architecture rule checks for CI, and an optional MCP server.
Who it is for: Engineers using coding agents to diagram code and infrastructure
Strengths
- 16 importers, including Terraform, Kubernetes, SQL DDL, OpenAPI and Python/JS/Go/Rust import graphs
- Sync updates changed nodes while preserving manually tuned coordinates and styles
- Resolves 10,000+ official draw.io shapes and 321 AI/LLM logos instead of guessed styles
- Core workflows are stdlib-only and offline; architecture rules run in CI via a GitHub Action
Weaknesses
- Requires the draw.io desktop CLI; version 30 or later needed for Mermaid and ELK layout
- Auto-layout needs Graphviz; headless Linux export needs xvfb
- AI logos load from the unpkg CDN by default, so rendering needs network unless embedded
- Many scripts and flags make it harder to learn than a plain diagram prompt
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs draw.io desktop CLI, Graphviz (optional), xvfb (Linux headless), Python 3
- Models: Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Codex, OpenClaw
