Overview
autoharness is a Claude Code plugin that distills skills from your real sessions into .claude/skills/, folds same-scenario skills together, and archives ones that stop being loaded. It only touches skills it wrote itself and injects a grouped index of them at session start. Reflection runs after a set number of tool calls (default 50), or on demand with /learn.
Who it is for: Claude Code users who want skills maintained automatically
Strengths
- Touches only skills it generated; hand-written and installed skills are left alone
- Each create/update logs reason and evidence slice to a per-skill ledger
- Archives rather than deletes; moving a skill directory back revives it
- Pure Python with zero third-party dependencies; tunable via AUTOHARNESS_* env variables
Weaknesses
- Requires python3 3.11+ on PATH; older interpreters turn the hooks off
- Claude Code only; Linux and macOS only
- README says default thresholds are placeholders pending empirical calibration
- Background reflection spawns extra child sessions, adding token cost
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs Claude Code, Python 3.11+
- Models: Claude
