Overview
SuperPlane coordinates coding agents, source control, CI, review and approvals around a work-order model: an issue enters a backlog, passes through ordered automation lines, and ends as a pull request or other artifact. Automations are composed on a Canvas using integrations such as GitHub, GitLab, Claude, Cursor, OpenAI, Semaphore and Slack. Failed runs are sent back to the agent with context and can resume from preserved state.
Who it is for: Engineering teams automating routine backlog work with coding agents
Strengths
- Integrations cover GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, several CI systems, Claude, Cursor and OpenAI
- Event history and execution state persist across retries, so failed runs can resume
- Approval steps and shared guardrails apply to every run
- Model choice is open, with cloud or on-prem deployment
Weaknesses
- README gives no install steps, RAM or port figures for self-hosting
- Contributor setup is Docker-based; production deployment docs are not described in the README
- Automatic selection of high-confidence issues is described without detail on how it works
- Detected license is NOASSERTION, though the README states Apache 2.0
What it needs
- Docker + Compose
- Needs Docker, GitHub or GitLab, coding agent provider (Claude, Cursor, OpenAI)
- Models: Claude, Cursor, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Perplexity
