Overview

Gas Town is a Go CLI (gt) that manages a workspace of git repositories ("rigs") and runs multiple coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, Gemini and Cursor against them. Work is tracked as Beads issues grouped into convoys, with state kept in git worktree hooks so it survives agent restarts. A Mayor agent coordinates, while Witness and Deacon watchdogs and a Refinery merge queue handle health and merging.

Who it is for: Developers running 5-30 parallel coding agents across git repositories

Strengths

  • 11 built-in agent presets, including claude, codex, copilot, gemini, cursor and opencode
  • Work state persists in git worktree hooks and the Beads ledger across restarts
  • Watchdogs detect stuck agents; a Bors-style bisecting queue merges finished work
  • Minimal mode tracks state without tmux while you run agents manually

Weaknesses

  • Many project-specific terms (Mayor, polecats, rigs, convoys, wasteland) make the learning curve steep
  • Native install needs Git, Go, bd, Dolt, sqlite3 and tmux 3.0+
  • Full tmux workflows on Windows need WSL; native Windows is CLI-only
  • Copilot preset runs with --yolo, so autonomous agents need cost and safety care

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Docker + Compose
  • Needs Git 2.20+, Go 1.26.2+, Beads (bd) 0.57.0+, Dolt, tmux 3.0+, sqlite3, Claude Code CLI or another agent runtime
  • Models: Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Gemini, Cursor
  • port 8080
