Overview
Crush is a Go terminal UI coding agent that keeps per-project sessions and lets you switch LLMs mid-session without losing context. It connects to providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Bedrock, Azure and OpenRouter, or to any OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible endpoint such as Ollama. It uses LSPs for code context and MCP servers (stdio, http, sse) for extra tools, configured through a Bash-style crushrc file.
Who it is for: Developers who want a terminal coding agent with their choice of LLM
Strengths
- Switch models mid-session while keeping context
- Runs on macOS, Linux, Windows, Android and the BSDs, with many package managers
- MCP over stdio, http and sse, including a built-in OAuth flow
- Config is a crushrc script run by a built-in Bash interpreter, same on every OS
Weaknesses
- License is reported as NOASSERTION, so terms need checking before use
- crushrc and crush.json are trusted code; untrusted project configs can run commands
- Hooks support is described as preliminary
- Setup nudges toward Charm's subscription Hyper provider
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs LLM provider API key or local model server (e.g. Ollama), Optional LSP servers (e.g. gopls), Optional MCP servers
- Models: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Amazon Bedrock, Azure OpenAI
