Overview

AGENTS.md is a specification for a plain Markdown file kept in a repo that holds dev environment, testing and PR instructions for AI coding agents. The repository also contains the Next.js site served at agents.md, which explains the format and lists examples. It has no runtime or agent code.

Who it is for: Maintainers who want to give AI coding agents repo-specific instructions

Strengths

  • Plain Markdown, no tooling, schema or dependencies required
  • One predictable file location for agent instructions, separate from the human README
  • Website runs locally with pnpm install and pnpm run dev

Weaknesses

  • No enforced schema; README shows only a minimal example
  • Repo holds the website and spec, not a tool or agent
  • README does not list which agents read the file
  • No releases published

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Needs Node.js, pnpm
  • port 3000
