Overview

Agent of Empires (aoe) is a Rust session manager for AI coding agents on Linux and macOS. Each agent runs in its own tmux session, optionally in a git worktree or a Docker, Podman or Apple Containers sandbox. You monitor sessions from a TUI, a web dashboard (`aoe serve`), the CLI or an HTTP API.

Who it is for: Developers running several CLI coding agents in parallel on branches

Strengths

  • Sessions are tmux-backed, so agents survive closing the TUI or dropping SSH
  • Per-session git worktrees and multi-repo workspaces for parallel work across branches
  • Optional container sandboxing with Docker, Podman or Apple Containers
  • TUI, web dashboard with phone view, CLI and HTTP API all available

Weaknesses

  • Requires tmux; Windows only works through WSL2
  • Does not provide an agent itself; you bring Claude Code or another CLI agent
  • Supported agent list is not in the README; it requires running `aoe agents`
  • Web dashboard port and auth setup are not documented in the README

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Docker
  • Needs tmux, Docker (optional, for sandboxing)
