Overview

NOFX is a self-hosted trading system written in Go with a web UI. Frontier generates market, limit, ladder and TWAP entry plans with an LLM, shows them on a chart, and places an order only after you approve it. Autopilot runs a configured model, exchange account and strategy continuously and can place trades unattended.

Who it is for: Self-hosting crypto traders who want LLM-planned or automated futures trades

Strengths

  • Frontier requires explicit approval per trade and shows stop, targets, leverage and margin first
  • Supports Binance, Hyperliquid, OKX and Bitget in Frontier; Bybit, Gate, KuCoin, Aster, Lighter in runtime
  • One-line installer pulls published Docker images; no Go or Node setup needed
  • Uncertain order submissions are checked against the exchange; exchange keys stored encrypted

Weaknesses

  • Autopilot can place real trades while running; README warns AI strategies can lose money
  • Default model and paid-data access go through Claw402, funded with USDC on Base
  • Stop-loss entry and protection are not atomic; failed protection needs manual exchange checks
  • Installer's production Compose publishes ports on all interfaces; remote use needs your own HTTPS proxy

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Docker + Compose
  • Needs Docker with Compose, Exchange account and API credentials, Claw402 (USDC on Base) for models and paid data, TA-Lib and Node.js 24 for non-Docker builds
  • Models: Claw402 multi-model access, Models configured in NOFX Config
  • port 3000
