Overview

Genesis World is a Python simulation platform that combines a multi-physics engine (rigid, FEM, MPM, PBD, SPH, IPC, SAP), three renderers (Nyx, Luisa, Pyrender) and the Quadrants compiler. Quadrants lowers Python kernels to CUDA, ROCm, Metal, Vulkan, x86 and ARM64. It loads URDF, MJCF, OBJ, GLB and USD assets, and supports parallel and heterogeneous environments, sensors and a built-in GUI.

Who it is for: Robotics and RL researchers who need a Python physics simulator

Strengths

  • Rigid, FEM, MPM, SPH, PBD and IPC solvers share one scene and state
  • Quadrants compiles to CUDA, ROCm, Metal, Vulkan, x86 and ARM64
  • Many runnable examples: sensors, controllers, domain randomization, heterogeneous envs
  • Parses URDF, MJCF, OBJ, GLB and USD assets

Weaknesses

  • IPC solver needs pyuipc on Linux or Windows x86 with an NVIDIA GPU
  • PyTorch must be installed separately before the package
  • Python limited to >=3.10,<3.14
  • Nyx renderer is a separate package (gs-nyx) with its own install

What it needs

  • GPU optional
  • Needs PyTorch, pyuipc (optional), gs-nyx (optional)
  • Models: URDF, MJCF, OBJ, GLB, USD
