Overview

Official Google collection of Colab-ready notebooks for the hosted Gemini API. Quickstarts cover prompting, thinking levels, TTS, Live API, transcription, image, video and music generation, grounding, code execution, File Search and an Agents API. A separate Examples folder combines several features into larger use cases.

Who it is for: Developers learning to build on the Gemini API

Strengths

  • Maintained by Google; notebooks track new Gemini models and API features
  • Each quickstart has an Open in Colab link, so no local setup is required
  • Covers many modalities: text, speech, Live API, image, video, music, transcription
  • Apache-2.0 licensed with separate Quickstarts and Examples sections

Weaknesses

  • Requires a Google account and a Google AI Studio API key
  • All examples call the hosted Gemini API; nothing runs locally
  • Gemma and end-to-end demos live in separate repositories
  • Notebooks are tied to current Gemini model names and may go stale

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Needs Gemini API key (Google AI Studio), Google account, Google Colab (optional)
  • Models: Gemini, Veo, Lyria, Nano-Banana
