Overview
tweakcc patches Claude Code's minified cli.js, or the native Bun binary via node-lief, using settings from ~/.tweakcc/config.json. It edits system prompts, themes, thinking verbs and spinners, toolsets and subagent models, and adds patches such as AGENTS.md support and MCP startup optimization. Customizations are reapplied with `npx tweakcc --apply` after Claude Code updates, and custom patches can be written through an API or `adhoc-patch`.

Strengths
- Supports native binaries and npm, pnpm, bun, Homebrew and Nix installs on Windows, macOS, Linux
- Config in ~/.tweakcc/config.json is reapplied with --apply; a SessionStart hook can automate it
- Custom patches via npm API or sandboxed `adhoc-patch` scripts, including from an HTTP URL
- Restores from backup before each apply; `--restore` reverts Claude Code
Weaknesses
- Verified only against Claude Code 2.1.162; other versions may break non-prompt patches
- Claude Code updates overwrite patches, and native updates can replace the patched binary
- Patches depend on the internal layout of a third-party minified binary
- README says documentation for some features is still missing
