Overview

Official CLI for the TestSprite testing service. You write test plans as JSON in plain language, or have the service propose them. Tests run against a live app in the cloud, or a local one through a tunnel. A failed run comes back as one failure bundle that a coding agent can read, fix and rerun. `testsprite setup` installs a verification skill for eight agents, including Claude, Cursor, Cline and Codex.

Who it is for: Developers using coding agents who want automated end-to-end checks in the loop

Ranked among open-source alternatives to CodeRabbit (#10 of 10).

Strengths

  • `test failure get` returns one self-contained failure bundle, plus non-zero exit codes for CI and agents
  • Installs its skill for eight agents: claude, cursor, cline, windsurf, antigravity, kiro, copilot, codex
  • Tunnel lets cloud tests reach localhost apps, with batch runs of 1-10 concurrent tests
  • Plans are plain-language JSON with a published schema, so no browser code is needed

Weaknesses

  • Requires a TestSprite account and API key; tests execute on their hosted backend, not locally
  • Plan generation and runs spend workspace credits; a PRD upload bills 0.5 credits
  • Local projects skip plan generation, so plans must be written by hand
  • Needs Node.js 20.19+, 22.13+ or 24+; the CLI is a client, not a self-hostable engine

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Needs TestSprite cloud account and API key, Node.js 20.19+, 22.13+ or 24+
