Overview
Official Supabase MCP server, hosted at https://mcp.supabase.com/mcp, that gives clients such as Cursor, Claude and Windsurf tools for managing tables, fetching config and querying data. The TypeScript package @supabase/mcp-server-supabase also exports typed schemas for the Vercel AI SDK and a handler for serving the tools from your own HTTP endpoint. A separate PostgREST MCP server is included.

Strengths
- Hosted endpoint with OAuth login; client config is a short JSON block
- URL options for project_ref, read_only and feature groups limit what the LLM can do
- createToolSchemas() gives typed tool inputs and outputs for Vercel AI SDK
- createSupabaseMcpHandler() allows serving the tools from your own endpoint
Weaknesses
- CLI and self-hosted setups expose only a limited tool subset and no OAuth 2.1
- Connects an LLM to real projects; README points to security risks to mitigate
- Does not send structuredContent; AI SDK parses JSON from text content
- Self-hosted handler rejects clients that only speak the 2025-era protocol (HTTP 400)
