Overview
SkillsGate is an Electron desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux that browses the public skills.sh catalog and installs skills into the config of agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI and Cline. It includes a CodeMirror editor for skill files, SSH access to remote machines, and keeps settings and favorites in a local SQLite database with no account.
Who it is for: Developers managing skills across several coding agents from one GUI
Strengths
- Installs or removes a skill per agent, across 25 listed agents
- Local-first: settings and favorites in SQLite, no account required
- Built-in editor writes skill source straight to disk
- Syncs and browses skills on remote machines over SSH
Weaknesses
- macOS build is signed but not notarized; first launch needs Open Anyway
- Terminal UI and npm packages are deprecated and unmaintained
- macOS 0.7.0 and earlier need a manual update to 0.7.2
- Catalog discovery depends on skills.sh
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs skills.sh, SQLite (better-sqlite3), Node.js 22+ (for development)
