Overview

Reverse API Engineer records a website's network traffic to a HAR file, either while you browse or while an AI agent drives the browser. A configured model then reads the traffic and writes an API client in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Java, C#, PHP, Ruby, C or PowerShell. It also ships a skill for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode, plus scriptable subcommands with JSON output.

Who it is for: Developers who want typed clients for sites that offer no public API

Strengths

  • Generates clients in 10 languages from captured HAR traffic
  • Manual, agent, engineer and collector modes cover different capture workflows
  • Scriptable subcommands with --json output and documented exit codes
  • Works with Claude, OpenCode, Cursor and Copilot SDKs, plus Ollama via OpenCode

Weaknesses

  • Agent mode needs an API key; RAM and GPU needs are unknown
  • Chrome-mcp runs save no HAR, so engineer cannot regenerate them
  • Sites with aggressive bot detection may block capture
  • No Intel macOS or 32-bit Windows support; generated code needs review before running

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Needs Python 3.11+, Node.js 20+ (npx), Playwright Chromium (manual mode), Chrome 146+ (chrome-mcp headed), Claude, OpenCode, Cursor or Copilot SDK
  • Models: Claude Sonnet, Claude Opus, Claude Haiku, OpenCode providers, Ollama
