Overview
peon-ping registers hooks and adapters for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini CLI, OpenCode and about a dozen other agents. It plays sound-pack voice lines (Warcraft, StarCraft, Portal and others) and shows overlay banners and terminal tab titles on events such as task complete, permission needed, error and rate limit. It ships a `peon` CLI, an MCP server, SSH relay and phone notifications via ntfy.
Who it is for: Developers running AI coding agents who tab away and miss prompts
Strengths
- Adapters for 20+ agents and IDEs, plus any MCP client
- Per-event sound categories following the open CESP pack spec
- Per-directory and per-IDE pack bindings, path exclusions, and Focus/DND detection
- Installs via Homebrew, shell script, PowerShell, or Nix with Home Manager module
Weaknesses
- Windows lacks some CLI commands such as setup, rotation, preview and mobile
- WSL2 on Windows 11 24H2+ needs ffmpeg to play MP3 packs
- Written in Shell; installer is piped from curl by default
- Overlay banners listed only for macOS, WSL and MSYS2, not plain Linux
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs ffmpeg (WSL2 on Windows 11 24H2+, MP3 packs), ntfy (optional, phone notifications)
- Models: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI
