Overview

opencode.nvim connects Neovim to an OpenCode server, finding a running daemon, using a configured URL, or starting one in a terminal. It expands placeholders such as @this, @buffer and @diagnostics in prompts, and exposes ask, select, operator and command functions. Edits proposed by OpenCode open in a :diffpatch view with accept/reject keymaps, and server events are forwarded as autocmds.

Who it is for: Neovim users who already run OpenCode as their coding agent

Strengths

  • Context placeholders: @this, @buffer, @buffers, @diagnostics, @marks, @quickfix, @visible
  • Reviews proposed edits in native Neovim diff with da/dr/dp/do keymaps
  • Forwards OpenCode server events as User autocmds and reloads edited buffers
  • Can target remote OpenCode servers via server.url; integrates with snacks, blink.cmp, lualine

Weaknesses

  • Requires a separate OpenCode install; the plugin is only a client
  • Main branch targets OpenCode v2; v1 needs the stable release tag
  • Event payloads follow OpenCode's schema and may change between releases
  • Designed around a single connected OpenCode instance

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Needs Neovim, OpenCode
