Overview
OpenCLI controls a logged-in Chrome or Chromium through a Browser Bridge extension and a local daemon. It has generic browser commands (open, state, click, fill, extract, network, screenshot) and 100+ site adapters such as Bilibili, Reddit, Twitter/X and HackerNews. Output is JSON by default, and bundled skills let agents like Claude Code or Cursor drive it.
Who it is for: Developers giving AI agents access to logged-in websites
Strengths
- Reuses your logged-in Chrome session, so no per-site credential handling
- JSON envelope with error codes and sysexits-style exit codes suits scripts and agents
- Bundled skills help agents write, test and repair site adapters
- Plugin system installs third-party adapters from GitHub or local paths
Weaknesses
- Needs a Chrome extension and local daemon; remote browsers need a CDP endpoint
- Adapters depend on site internals and can break when sites change
- Adapter list leans toward Chinese platforms; many commands act on real accounts
- Video downloads need yt-dlp installed separately
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs Node.js >= 20.18.1, Chrome or Chromium, OpenCLI Browser Bridge extension, yt-dlp (video downloads)
