Overview
Omnigraph is a Rust graph database that stores data in the Lance format on local disk or S3-compatible storage. It enforces typed `.pg` schemas on write and combines graph traversal, vector search and full-text search in one query. Branching and three-way merge let agents write in isolation, and clusters are declared in `cluster.yaml` and applied with plan/apply commands.
Who it is for: Teams giving multiple agents shared, versioned graph memory
Strengths
- Git-style branches, three-way merge and time travel across the whole graph
- Graph traversal, vector ANN, full-text and Reciprocal Rank Fusion in one runtime
- Cedar policy enforced server-side on every write path, including CLI and SDK
- Open Lance storage on local disk, S3, R2, GCS or MinIO; built-in MCP endpoint
Weaknesses
- Azure storage is preview and needs an admission wrapper for writers
- Managed Omnigraph Cloud is private preview, waitlist only
- Custom schema and query formats (.pg, .gq) must be learned
- Clients must match the server HTTP contract version, such as 0.14
What it needs
- Docker
- Needs S3-compatible object storage (optional), protobuf-compiler (build/CI only)
- Models: Embedding providers declared in cluster.yaml
Quick answers
