Overview
nodeterm places real terminals (xterm over tmux), coding-agent sessions, sticky notes, Monaco editors and diff views as draggable nodes on a pan/zoom canvas. Each project can also be shown as a kanban board whose cards are live sessions, with hook-driven RUNNING / NEEDS YOU status. It runs as an Electron desktop app or a self-hosted browser Server Edition, and pairs with an iOS companion app.
Who it is for: Developers running several coding agents in parallel who want a spatial overview
Strengths
- Sessions persist across app restarts and reboots via tmux; macOS build ships its own tmux
- Agent status comes from hooks, not output scraping, with OS notifications and context meter
- Supports Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Copilot, opencode, Grok, Cursor and custom agents
- Same renderer runs as desktop app or browser Server Edition; local Whisper dictation
Weaknesses
- License is BUSL-1.1 (source-available), not an OSI open-source license
- Windows build is beta: unsigned installer, manual updates, no session continuity across restarts yet
- Server Edition is single-user (password auth) and needs Node 22 plus tmux
- Notch integration and the iOS companion app are Apple-only
What it needs
- no GPU
- Docker
- Needs tmux, Node.js 20+ (build from source), Node.js 22 (Server Edition), git
- Models: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, opencode
- port 8443
