Overview

NocoDB provides an Airtable-like interface for creating and editing tables, with grid, gallery, form, kanban and calendar views. It exposes data through REST APIs and an SDK, and runs on SQLite by default or PostgreSQL via NC_DB. It is a general no-code database tool; the README mentions no AI features.

Who it is for: Teams self-hosting a spreadsheet-style database UI and REST API over SQL data

Strengths

  • Five view types: grid, gallery, form, kanban, calendar
  • Role-based access control, plus public or password-protected shared views
  • Runs on SQLite by default or PostgreSQL through the NC_DB variable
  • Auto-upstall script sets up PostgreSQL, Redis, Traefik and SSL via Docker Compose

Weaknesses

  • Sustainable Use License, not a standard OSI open-source license
  • README describes no AI or LLM features, so it is a loose fit for an AI list
  • Standalone binaries are documented only for quick local testing
  • Auto-upstall pipes a remote shell script into bash

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Compose
  • Needs SQLite or PostgreSQL, Redis (auto-upstall setup), Traefik (auto-upstall setup)
  • port 8080

Quick answers

Is nocodb open source?

Its code is public on GitHub under its own license terms; read them before you use it at work.

Can you run nocodb with Docker?

Yes. Its repository has a Docker setup: a Dockerfile, a Compose file or a published image.
