Overview
Nimbalyst is an Electron desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux that wraps coding agents (Codex, Claude Code, plus OpenCode and Copilot in alpha) in one UI. It runs parallel sessions in separate git worktrees and tracks them on a kanban board. It also provides WYSIWYG editors for markdown, mockups, Mermaid, Excalidraw and CSV, with red/green diff review of agent edits. An iOS companion app handles replies and approvals.
Who it is for: Developers running several coding agents who want visual diff review
Strengths
- Parallel agent sessions, each isolated in its own git worktree
- Accept or reject agent edits as diffs in rendered documents, not just raw code
- Stores content as plain files in your git repo, no proprietary store
- Extension SDK where built-in and custom editors share the same EditorHost contract
Weaknesses
- OpenCode and Copilot support is alpha
- Collaboration sync server is a separate project, hosted at sync.nimbalyst.com
- Sends anonymous PostHog analytics by default; opt-out is in Settings
- Desktop app only, with no Docker or browser deployment
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs Codex or Claude Code CLI/account, Node 24 and pnpm (build from source only)
- Models: Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode (alpha), GitHub Copilot (alpha), Gemini
