Overview
MEX stores architecture notes, decisions and handoffs as Markdown in the repository, and links them to code symbols through a local Tree-sitter graph in SQLite. Engineers review and edit it in a local Hub on 127.0.0.1, while agents read it through the CLI and installed skills. Sharing happens through ordinary Git commits, with no hosted service.
Who it is for: Teams sharing repo context across engineers and coding agents
Strengths
- Canonical memory is plain Markdown in the repo, shared via normal Git push and pull
- Wiki claims are grounded to code symbols, with drift flags for review
- Needs no hosted service, account or model key; indexes are rebuildable local SQLite
- Relays record progress, tests and next steps for handing work to a teammate
Weaknesses
- Code graph covers TypeScript, JavaScript, Python and Rust; C# is partial
- Requires Node.js 22.5+ with SQLite FTS5 support in that build
- Team must upgrade together before sharing the 0.8.4 format
- Hub is local per checkout; Relays are not delivered until pushed through Git
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs Node.js >=22.5, Git, SQLite FTS5
- Models: Claude Code, Codex
