Overview

A Go MCP server that talks directly to the Kubernetes API server instead of shelling out to kubectl or helm. It offers generic CRUD on any resource, plus pod logs, exec, top and events, with optional toolsets for Helm, Tekton, KubeVirt, Kiali and observability backends. It ships as a native binary, npm and PyPI packages, and a container image.

Who it is for: Platform engineers connecting coding agents to Kubernetes or OpenShift

Strengths

  • Native Go binary for Linux, macOS and Windows; no kubectl, helm, Node or Python needed
  • Toolsets are opt-in, which keeps tool context small for the LLM
  • read_only mode and denied_resources (e.g. Secrets) restrict what agents can touch
  • Multi-cluster via kubeconfig contexts; optional OTEL tracing and OAuth/OIDC in HTTP mode

Weaknesses

  • Requires access to a Kubernetes cluster; nothing to try without one
  • Runtime settings moved from CLI flags to TOML, so older flag-based setups need migration
  • Exec, delete and Helm install tools can change a live cluster unless read_only is set
  • Some toolsets (kiali, netobserv, kubevirt) need matching components in the cluster

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Docker
  • Needs Kubernetes or OpenShift cluster, kubeconfig or in-cluster config
