Overview

Jean is a Tauri v2 desktop app, with a headless Linux `jean-server`, that runs CLI agents such as Claude, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode in parallel, one git worktree per task. It bundles a terminal, diff review with line comments, and GitHub, Linear and Sentry integrations. The UI is also served over HTTP/WebSocket with token auth, and the desktop app can combine local and remote servers in one sidebar.

Who it is for: Developers running several CLI coding agents in parallel on their own machines

Strengths

  • Each task gets its own git worktree, so parallel agent sessions do not collide
  • Uses your existing agent CLIs and subscriptions; supports about ten backends
  • Headless jean-server with systemd installer, Docker image and browser access including phones
  • Desktop app shows local and remote servers together, with actions run on the owning server

Weaknesses

  • Windows is marked not fully tested; Linux only community tested
  • jean-server supports Linux amd64 and arm64 only, glibc and OpenSSL 3
  • Antigravity backend and Mr. Robot issue automation are beta
  • Remote use needs your own network hardening, such as Tailscale, TLS and tokens

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Docker
  • Needs Agent CLIs (Claude, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, etc.), git, Node.js and Rust (build from source)
  • Models: Claude, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, Pi
  • port 3456

Quick answers

Is jean open source?

Yes. Its code is on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license.

Can you run jean with Docker?
