Overview
GSD Pi is a local-first coding agent started with the `gsd` command. It breaks work into milestones, slices and tasks, and an auto mode plans, implements and verifies them in isolated Git worktrees. Project state is kept in `.gsd/` and a local database with markdown projections. A TUI is the default, and `gsd --web` opens a web interface.
Who it is for: Developers who want a CLI agent that plans and verifies project work
Strengths
- Auto mode plans, implements, verifies and advances through milestones, slices and tasks
- Git worktrees isolate implementation work from the main checkout
- Works with API keys, OAuth providers and external CLIs such as Claude Code and Cursor Agent
- `gsd quick --output-format json` gives structured output and meaningful exit codes for automation
Weaknesses
- Public history restarted at 1.0.0; older release notes are archived
- README gives no RAM, hardware or supported Node.js version
- Older unscoped `gsd-pi` installs need manual removal before migrating
- Web UI port and deployment details are not in the README
What it needs
- no GPU
- Docker + Compose
- Needs Node.js, npm or pnpm, Git, Model provider API key, OAuth or CLI (e.g. Claude Code, cursor-agent)
- Models: Claude Haiku 5.5 (default light tier), Cursor Agent (composer-2.5), Claude Code CLI, API-key and OAuth providers
