Overview
dmux opens a tmux pane per task, each with its own git worktree and branch, and launches one or more agent CLIs (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini CLI and others) on a prompt. Finished panes can be merged into the main branch or pushed as a GitHub PR from a pane menu. It also offers a file browser, lifecycle hooks and multi-project sessions.
Who it is for: Developers running several terminal coding agents in parallel on one repo
Strengths
- Each pane gets its own worktree and branch, so parallel agents do not conflict
- Supports 11 agent CLIs including Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini and Cursor
- Merge or create GitHub PR from the pane menu; lifecycle hooks run on create and merge
- Resumes terminals and tracked agent conversations when a pane is recreated
Weaknesses
- Requires tmux 3.0+, Node.js 18+ and Git 2.20+ installed
- Needs at least one separate agent CLI installed and configured
- macOS notifications only; no equivalent noted for other platforms
- AI naming and summaries need an inference provider key or subscription login
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs tmux 3.0+, Node.js 18+, Git 2.20+, at least one agent CLI
- Models: Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cline CLI, Gemini CLI
