Overview

CodeMachine is a TypeScript CLI, installed with npm, that runs AI coding CLIs such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor through workflows you define once and rerun. It spawns each engine in its headless mode, passes context between steps, and can run several agents in parallel or over long periods. A default "Ali Workflow Builder" workflow helps you create your first workflow interactively.

Who it is for: Developers who repeat the same multi-step workflows with coding agents

Strengths

  • Drives existing coding CLIs (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) instead of replacing them
  • Supports multi-agent and parallel execution within one workflow
  • Workflows can run for hours or days with persistence handled by the tool
  • Covers interactive through fully autonomous orchestration patterns

Weaknesses

  • Needs a separate coding agent CLI installed; it does not supply models itself
  • Depends on each engine's headless mode, so behavior follows those tools
  • README gives no system requirements, config format or workflow file examples
  • Full list of supported engines is not stated in the README

What it needs

  • Compose
  • Needs Node.js/npm, AI coding CLI (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor)
  • Models: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor
