Overview
Exposes registered MCP, HTTP, file and CLI tools as TypeScript namespaces inside a Node.js VM, so a model writes one code block that chains calls and returns only a summary. Ships as the @utcp/code-mode npm package, a `utcp` CLI for shell-capable agents, and an MCP server for clients like Claude Desktop. Includes tool search, generated TypeScript interfaces, log capture and a 30-second default timeout.
Who it is for: Developers building agents that orchestrate many MCP or HTTP tools
Strengths
- Chains many tool calls in one execution and filters data in-sandbox before returning it
- Mixes MCP, HTTP, file and CLI tool sources in a single code block
- Three entry points: npm library, shell CLI, and MCP server for MCP-only clients
- Configurable timeout and captured console logs returned with each result
Weaknesses
- Sandbox is Node.js VM contexts, not a separate container or process
- Each protocol needs its own plugin package, such as @utcp/mcp
- Cost-savings figures come from a third-party Python benchmark with two small models
- Last tagged release is 2025-11-23; no hosted demo or dedicated docs site listed
What it needs
- TypeScript, unknown
- Needs Node.js, @utcp/mcp, @utcp/http, UTCP client
