Overview
Chops is a native SwiftUI/SwiftData macOS app that scans the skill and agent directories of Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf and Amp, plus project-level Copilot and Aider files. It lists them in one place with full-text search, a built-in editor with frontmatter parsing, and collections that leave source files untouched. It can also browse remote servers and install skills from the skills.sh registry.
Who it is for: Mac users managing skills and agents across several coding tools
Strengths
- Scans skill and agent directories for seven tools, with custom scan paths
- FSEvents file watching re-scans automatically when files change on disk
- Dedups symlinked skills into one entry with multiple tool badges
- Installs skills from the skills.sh registry and from remote servers
Weaknesses
- macOS 15 or later only
- App sandbox is disabled to read dotfiles across the home directory
- No automated test suite; changes are validated manually
- FSL-1.1-MIT license, not a standard OSI-approved license
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs macOS 15+, Xcode (build from source), xcodegen (build from source), Sparkle
