Overview

CCCC is a Rust daemon that runs several coding agents (Claude Code, Codex CLI, Grok Build, OpenCode, Kilo and others) as one group. Messages go through an append-only ledger with separate stored, delivered, read and reply status. A Web UI, CLI, MCP tools and IM bridges all talk to the same daemon, and state lives in CCCC_HOME.

Who it is for: Developers running several coding agent CLIs together on one repo

Strengths

  • Append-only ledger.jsonl records messages for replay, with separate delivery, read and reply status
  • Supports about 20 agent runtimes plus a custom runtime for any command-line agent
  • Single native install: no database, message broker, Docker or Rust toolchain needed
  • Web UI, CLI, MCP and IM bridges share one daemon-owned state; SDKs for Python, npm and Rust

Weaknesses

  • Prebuilt targets only Linux x86-64, Apple Silicon macOS and Windows x86-64; no Intel Mac after 0.4.37
  • Web-model runtimes like ChatGPT Web need a public HTTPS URL for the MCP connector
  • Voice features are experimental, and the global Secretary shares model history across Groups
  • Each agent CLI must be installed and signed in separately; default autonomy flags bypass approvals

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Docker + Compose
  • Needs Agent CLIs such as Claude Code or Codex CLI, installed and signed in separately
  • Models: Claude Code, Codex CLI, Grok Build, OpenCode, Kilo Code
  • port 8848

Quick answers

Is cccc open source?

Yes. Its code is on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license.

Can you run cccc with Docker?
