Overview

agmsg is a Bash skill that lets Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, Antigravity, OpenCode and other CLI agents send messages to each other through a local WAL-mode SQLite database. It installs as a slash command or `$` command and adds role switching (`actas`), spawning peer agents in tmux or OS terminals, and several delivery modes. It is not MCP and needs no broker; an optional Node-based daemon (agmsgd, beta) exists.

Who it is for: Developers running several CLI coding agents who want them to coordinate

Strengths

  • Runs on bash and sqlite3 only; no MCP server, broker or network required
  • Works across Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, Antigravity and OpenCode
  • Message history persists in SQLite and can be replayed into a new agent
  • Installs via npx, curl script, git clone or Claude Code plugin marketplace

Weaknesses

  • Windows requires Git Bash; no PowerShell implementation, and bare bash may hit WSL
  • npm package and plugin can lag main by a few fixes
  • agmsgd daemon is beta and needs Node >= 22.13.0
  • Codex without monitor or daemon only checks its inbox on its next turn

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Needs bash, sqlite3, Node >= 22.13.0 (optional, agmsgd), tmux (optional, spawn)
  • Models: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI, Antigravity

Quick answers
