Overview

X-AnyLabeling is a cross-platform desktop annotation tool for building datasets for detection, segmentation, pose, OCR, tracking, VQA and 3D point clouds. It integrates models such as YOLO variants, SAM 1/2/3, Grounding DINO and several VLMs for auto-labeling, run locally via ONNX Runtime, TensorRT or OpenCV DNN, or remotely via vLLM, SGLang or its own server. It imports and exports COCO, VOC, YOLO, DOTA, MOT and others.

Who it is for: ML engineers labeling computer vision datasets

Strengths

  • Wide model library: YOLO family, SAM 1/2/3, Grounding DINO, RF-DETR, PP-OCR, Qwen3-VL
  • Exports COCO, VOC, YOLO, DOTA, MOT, PPOCR, ShareGPT and other formats
  • Covers many tasks in one tool: boxes, polygons, rotated boxes, tracking, OCR, VQA, 3D point clouds
  • Runs on Windows, Linux and macOS; remote inference via X-AnyLabeling-Server, vLLM or SGLang

Weaknesses

  • GPL-3.0 license imposes copyleft terms on derived or redistributed code
  • Requires Python 3.11+ for source or PyPI install
  • Contributions require signing a Contributor License Agreement

What it needs

  • GPU optional
  • Needs ONNX Runtime, TensorRT, OpenCV DNN, vLLM, SGLang
  • Models: ONNX, YOLO, SAM, Grounding DINO, Qwen3-VL

Quick answers

Is x-anylabeling open source?

Yes. Its code is on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license.

Does x-anylabeling need a GPU?
