Overview

A tutorial repo that rebuilds the parts of a coding-agent harness one chapter at a time. It starts with a single while-loop and bash, then adds permissions, hooks, memory, subagents, task graphs, cron, agent teams, MCP, a workflow runtime and a goal loop. Each root-level chapter (s01 to s17) has a runnable code.py and Chinese and Japanese translations.

Who it is for: Engineers learning to build coding-agent harnesses in Python

Strengths

  • Each chapter isolates one mechanism with a runnable code.py
  • Covers permissions, hooks, memory, context compaction, MCP and agent teams in order
  • Includes a legacy-to-current chapter mapping for older links
  • Chapter READMEs in English, Chinese and Japanese

Weaknesses

  • Teaching code, not an installable library or product
  • Legacy and current tracks use different chapter numbers
  • Long opinionated preamble before any code
  • Setup, API key and model requirements not shown in the visible README

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Needs LLM API with tool use (Anthropic-style messages API)
  • Models: Claude

Quick answers
