Overview

Evidently is a Python library with 100+ built-in metrics for tabular and text data, covering data drift, data quality, classification, regression, ranking, RAG and LLM-as-a-judge evals. Reports can be turned into pass/fail Test Suites for CI checks, and results can be exported as JSON, dict or HTML. A self-hosted monitoring UI (`evidently ui`, localhost:8000) tracks metrics over time.

Who it is for: ML and LLM engineers adding evals, drift checks and monitoring to pipelines

Strengths

  • 100+ built-in metrics, including 20+ statistical drift tests and LLM-as-a-judge evals
  • Reports convert to Test Suites with gt/lt conditions, or conditions auto-generated from a reference dataset
  • Installs with pip or conda; the self-hosted monitoring UI starts with one command
  • Custom metrics via Python interface; exports to JSON, dict and HTML

Weaknesses

  • Supports only tabular and text data; no image or audio evals listed
  • Alerting, dataset and user management, and no-code evals are Cloud-only features
  • Not a tracing or prompt-management tool; focused on metrics and tests
  • Self-hosted UI auth and scaling details are not described in the README

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Docker
  • Needs Python, pandas
  • Models: tabular data, text, LLM-as-a-judge
  • port 8000
