Overview

OpenAgents Control adds markdown-defined agents (OpenAgent, OpenCoder, SystemBuilder) and subagents to the OpenCode CLI. A ContextScout subagent loads your project's coding standards from `.opencode/context/` before code is generated, and every file write or command requires approval. A BETA Claude Code plugin is also offered. The README says a rewrite is coming that will replace much of this version.

Who it is for: Teams using OpenCode who want agents that follow shared coding standards

Strengths

  • Agents are plain markdown files you edit, with no compile step
  • Team patterns live in `.opencode/context/` and can be committed to the repo
  • Approval required before file edits, bash commands and subagent delegation
  • Installs with one curl script; also ships a Claude Code plugin (beta)

Weaknesses

  • Targets OpenCode v1; README warns a major rewrite will replace much of it
  • Sequential approval flow is slower than autonomous parallel agents
  • The 80% token reduction claim is given without a methodology
  • Requires OpenCode CLI, Bash 3.2+ and Git; Claude Code plugin is beta

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Needs OpenCode CLI, Bash 3.2+, Git
  • Models: Claude, GPT, Gemini, MiniMax, Local models
