Overview
OpenSumi is a TypeScript framework for assembling IDE products that run as a cloud IDE, in the browser, or on Electron. It acts as an MCP client with tool support, and the README links starter projects including a cloud IDE, an Electron desktop IDE and CodeFuse IDE. Development uses yarn, and docs are on opensumi.com.
Who it is for: Teams building their own web or desktop AI IDE products
Strengths
- Several starters: cloud IDE, Electron desktop IDE, lite web IDE, CodeBlitz
- MCP client badge with tools support
- MIT license; CI, E2E and coverage workflows are published
- Used as the base of CodeFuse IDE, an AI IDE
Weaknesses
- Framework, not a ready-to-use IDE; you assemble and host the product yourself
- README does not describe the AI features or supported models
- Last tagged release is 2025-05-20, well before the latest commit
- Dev setup may need extra system-level dependencies
What it needs
- Needs Node.js, yarn
