Overview
Spring AI Alibaba is a Java framework built on Spring AI for writing agents, graph-based workflows and multi-agent setups. It ships an Agent Framework with ReactAgent and Sequential, Parallel, Routing and Loop agents, plus a Graph runtime for stateful workflows. A separate Admin platform adds visual agent building, tracing, evaluation and MCP management.
Who it is for: Java and Spring Boot developers building agents and workflows
Strengths
- Built-in Sequential, Parallel, Routing and Loop agent patterns plus a lower-level Graph API
- Context engineering hooks: human-in-the-loop, context compaction, tool retry, call limits
- A2A support through Nacos integration for distributed agents
- Supports DashScope and OpenAI models, tool calling and MCP via Spring AI
Weaknesses
- Java and Spring only; requires JDK 17+
- Quick start and examples default to a DashScope (Aliyun Bailian) API key
- Admin platform lives in a separate repository
- Community channels listed are DingTalk and WeChat only
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs JDK 17+, LLM provider API key, Nacos (for A2A and dynamic config)
- Models: DashScope, OpenAI, DeepSeek
- port 8080
