Overview

holaOS is an Electron desktop app where agents (Claude Code, Codex, or a built-in holaOS agent) run next to interactive apps such as Notion or a browser. It connects Slack, Feishu, DingTalk and WeChat, 50+ OAuth integrations and MCP servers, and keeps memory as plain local files. Models are either built in through a holaOS account or supplied with your own OpenAI/Anthropic-compatible keys.

Who it is for: Teams wanting a local desktop agent workspace tied into chat tools and apps

Strengths

  • Runs Claude Code, Codex and its own agent over shared memory, skills and tools
  • Memory, embeddings and session history stored locally as readable, editable files
  • Supports MCP servers, 50+ OAuth integrations and bring-your-own-key providers
  • Runs on macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows and Linux

Weaknesses

  • Modified Apache 2.0 license with commercial-distribution and branding conditions
  • Built-in models and marketplace tie into a holaOS account; sign-in required for those
  • Source install needs Node 24.14.1 and an Electron dev build; no Docker or compose
  • SSO, per-role permissions and audit logs are in the Enterprise tier

What it needs

  • no GPU
  • Needs Node.js 24.14.1, npm, git, Electron
  • Models: Kimi K3, GLM 5.2, GPT 5.6, Claude Opus 5, OpenAI-compatible endpoints
