Overview

An Obsidian vault with hooks, slash commands and an AGENTS.md manual that let Claude Code, Codex CLI or Gemini CLI keep notes, links, decisions and brag-doc entries between sessions. Lifecycle hooks inject goals, active projects and recent changes at session start and validate markdown writes. Optional QMD adds local semantic search through an MCP server; without it the agent falls back to grep and the Obsidian CLI.

Who it is for: Developers using Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI who keep notes in Obsidian

Strengths

  • Same hooks, commands and vault work with Claude Code, Codex CLI and Gemini CLI
  • Memory is git-tracked markdown in brain/, browsable in Obsidian and portable across machines
  • QMD search runs three local models, so no API key or per-query cost
  • Context injection has a byte budget and a size meter reported every session

Weaknesses

  • Claude Code has full support; Codex and Gemini have known gaps, and Codex needs hook approval
  • Requires Obsidian 1.12+ and Node 22+; hooks use the experimental strip-types flag
  • QMD model downloads total about 2.2GB; queries with embedding take a couple of seconds
  • Claude Code mod is unsandboxed code that runs with your permissions once trusted

What it needs

  • GPU optional
  • Needs Obsidian 1.12+, Node 22+, Git, QMD (optional), ShardMind (optional installer)
  • Models: Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, embeddinggemma-300M, qmd-query-expansion-1.7B
