Overview
MiMoCode is a terminal TUI coding assistant that reads and writes code, runs commands and manages Git. It keeps project memory in files backed by SQLite FTS5 and rebuilds context from checkpoints when the window fills. It also has subagents, a /goal stop-condition judge, JavaScript workflows and bundled skills, and connects to Xiaomi MiMo, Codex OAuth or any OpenAI-compatible provider.
Who it is for: Developers wanting a terminal coding agent with long-session memory
Strengths
- Checkpoint-based context rebuild and cross-session memory (MEMORY.md, checkpoint.md, task logs)
- Works with Xiaomi MiMo, Codex OAuth, Claude Code import, or any OpenAI-compatible API
- Per-model compaction limit via /context-limit to avoid long-context price tiers
- Three built-in workflows and about 20 bundled skills; custom ones load from .mimocode/
Weaknesses
- macOS Terminal.app is unsupported; iTerm2 or VS Code terminal required
- Voice input needs a MiMo login and sox; the ASR model is only on MiMo's platform
- TUI can lag over SSH; workaround is mimo serve remotely and mimo attach locally
- Desktop app features, including computer control, are separate and international edition only
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs sox (voice input only), LLM provider API key or OAuth login
- Models: Xiaomi MiMo-V2.6-Pro, MiMo-V2.6-Flash, OpenAI/Codex, Anthropic, xAI/Grok
