Overview
A macOS app and Xcode Source Editor Extension that adds code suggestions from GitHub Copilot or Codeium, a chat panel, and a prompt-to-code modification window inside Xcode. A background service app does the work and reads Xcode state through the Accessibility API. Custom commands with template arguments such as {{selected_code}} extend chat and modification.
Who it is for: Swift and Xcode developers on macOS who want AI completion and chat in Xcode
Strengths
- Works inside Xcode itself: suggestions, chat panel and code modification from one extension
- Suggestion providers: GitHub Copilot or Codeium; chat uses OpenAI or other configurable models
- Custom commands with template arguments for selected code, language, file name and clipboard
- Installable via Homebrew cask; chat has /shell and Shortcuts.app plugins
Weaknesses
- Setup is multi-step: extension enabling, Accessibility permission, accounts, key bindings
- Requires Accessibility API and folder access permissions for the background service
- Xcode state monitoring may fail, especially with multiple Xcode windows or displays
- Needs a paid Copilot or Codeium account, or an OpenAI key, plus Node for Copilot
What it needs
- no GPU
- Needs Xcode, macOS, Node (for GitHub Copilot language server), GitHub Copilot, Codeium or OpenAI account
- Models: GitHub Copilot, Codeium, OpenAI, other LLMs
